Wines of Distinction

Wines of Distinction – 90+ Wine Rating.

Wines of Distinction (90+ rating)

On the 22nd November at 6:00pm we will be hosting a wine tasting for Wines of Distinction. At this event you will taste 7 wines which are all rated 90+ by James Halliday and Huon Hook. Whilst tasting the wines, you will be served with food from our tasting plates.

The wines include:

Seppelt Salinger Cuvee – 91 points

Opulent flavours drive this deep and complex palate, the powerful nutty components are all drawn together by fine acid structure, this natural balance makes for an extremely refreshing sparkling.

Leo Buring Eden Valley Dry Riesling 94 points

This Riesling displays pure citrus fruit with underlying minerality, making it a perfect, fresh compliment to clean, vibrant dishes.

Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay – 95 points

Deriving its name from the picturesque Jaluke Forest in Northern Grampians, Seppelt Jaluka is expressive of the cool maritime climate of the Henty region. On the palate, vibrant and intense fruit weight is balanced out with zingy, crunchy acidity and nutty oak.

Coldstream Hills Yarra Valley Pinot Noir – 92 points

Sourced from low yielding vineyards in Lower and Upper Yarra Valley, all fruit is selectedively picked prior to delivery to the winery. Made using a variety of handling and fermentation techniques including whole bunches. Medium bodied in style, the palate displays typical Pinot texture and silkiness. The tannins are persistent, fine and chalky giving the wine structure and length.

Saltram Mamre Brook Cab Sauv Barossa Valley – 90 points

The palate is plush and layered with fine gravelly Cabernet Sauvignon tannins defining the wine, with lingering flavours of mulberry and blackberries and complex notes from subtle integration of oak.

Penfolds Kanunga Hill 76 Shiraz Cabernet – 90 points

A homage to the original 1976 Koonung Hill Shiraz Cabernet which is still drinking well today. This is a generous and substantial wine replete with a Coonawarra/Cabernet line structurally offering definition and length. Quince and fig fruits consort with rhubarb acidity and tannins right across the palate.

Wolf Blass Gold Label Shiraz – 91 Points

Fruit sourced predominantly from low-yielding vineyards across the Barossa Valley floor, which provide intensity and rich, bright fruit character. This was supplemented by Eden Valley fruit contributing fragrance, elegance and subtle spicy notes.
