Balgowlah now offers Live Music in The Gold Bar from Thursday right through to Sunday. Enjoy a great array of different artists from duets to soloists.

Thursday 7pm-10pm, Friday 4pm-7pm, Saturday 6pm -10pm, Sunday 2pm-6pm

Saturday 12th January – Keith Armitage

Keith has been playing on the Northern Beaches for over 20 years with a 10 year Friday night residency at The Harbord Beach Hotel and a 6 year Saturday night residency at The Ivanhoe Hotel on Manly’s Corso to packed rooms. Further afield he maintained an 8-year residency at the “55 George St Bar” in the highly competitive entertainment area of “The Rocks” and has played on the Fairstar Fun Ship, plus 12 seasons at the Sundeck Hotel in the snow and countless more. He is a consummate professional with a warm charismatic stage personality and a love of involving the crowd.  Keith will be joined onstage by an Mckenzie an amazing guitar player who has backed Jeff St John and played in many groups himself including “Shooting from the Hip” and “Two Hoots”.
Friday 18th January – Jenny Marie

Singer/Instrumentalist/Songwriter Jenny Marie Lang has captivated audiences with her soulful voice and sensual presence, having made a name for herself on the blues & roots around the country. Jenny Marie Lang is “one of the hottest female blues voices”. – The Drum Media Australia’s leading music street press. But it’s not only her unaffected vocal style alone which has grabbed the attention of audiences but her amazing command of so many instruments that sets her apart from the rest.

Whether it’s the no holds barred attitude on electric slide or the subtle finger picking on her grandmother’s 1930’s Victor Cadet, JML’s unique sound resonates with her listeners. Jenny has supported & performed alongside the cream of Australia’s live performers including The Whitlams, Paul Mac, Diesel , Wendy Matthews, Richard Clapton, The Mighty Reapers, Bill Chambers, the incredible Ray Beadle, Cold Chisel’s Steve Prestwich, and the amazing Jeff Lang.

Saturday 19th January – Alex Roussos

Alex Roussos is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and vocalist with a warm, rich and unmistakable voice.  He is a human jukebox with an impressive repertoire and the ability to play almost any song request provided he’s heard it.  Alex is also known to deliver interesting song interpretations and surprising mash-ups.

Alex’s show features acoustic guitar, notable vocals and live looped beatbox grooves. From dinner music to singer/songwriter classics, from pub singalongs to dancefloor favourites Alex’s versatility will not disappoint.

Alex performs regularly at a number of venues in and around Sydney including the Kings Cross Hotel, The Golden Sheaf, The Orient, Mosman Hotel, The Palace, The Stoned Crow, Pier One, Scruffy Murphy’s, and The Old Manly Boatshed.

Alex is currently performing his solo cover show featuring vocals, acoustic guitar and live looped beatboxing.

Friday 25th January – G.J Donovan

GJ Donovan is a singer / acoustic / electric guitarist and harmonica player who been working around the Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong pubs and clubs for the past 10 years. He plays both solo and with backing tracks and has performed an average of 3 shows a week over the past decade. He has been a regular at the Orient Hotel in the Rocks, Dee Why RSL Flame Bar and Harrigan’s Inn Pokolbin in the Hunter wine district. He is also a regular act at weddings and corporate functions. His repertoire has wide ranging appeal and specializes in classic pop and rock from the 60s and 70s with a smattering of tunes from the 80s.The audiences themselves have chosen his set list and it comes from the songs they have requested over the years in the many other musical projects he has been a part of. He began his musical life as a classical musician and has a high degree of technical ability. He was the guitarist and backing singer with John Paul Young’s Allstar band for 5 years from 1983.He has written and recorded dozens of children’s songs for the ABC. His original music has been used on TV shows including Burke’s Backyard and McLeod’s Daughters. He also has an original music project under the name Floyd Vincent playing Latin rock which has taken him all over the world including five tours of Europe, countless Australian national tours and a record deal with Universal music which saw his album released all over the world.

Saturday 26 January – Adrian Joseph

Adrian Joseph is a singer and guitar player with an extensive repertoire that includes pop, rock and Rnb and spans over 6 decades.

For years, Adrian has been entertaining crowds at pubs, clubs and bars with everything from laid back ambient tunes right up to high energy singing along classics which are sure to get the dance floor going

Sunday 27 January – Andrew McLachlan

Born and raised in Sydney’s north, Andrew McLachlan has been delivering quality performances to venues across the state for over 10 years. Andrew has performed at Opera Bar, the Sheaf, Clovelly Hotel, Kings Cross Hotel, Cyren Bar, and Cooks Garden, just to name a few. Providing a fresh take on tunes from the 60’s to new releases, Andrew’s smooth vocals, talented guitar playing, and unique twists on classic tunes is something not to be missed!

Thursday 31 January – Lloyd Bowen Duo

Marissa and Lloyd are a versatile musical duo, bound to bring a musical class and a whole lot of fun to your event like no other duo can. With a with a soaring acoustic sound and a vast musical catalogue, Marissa and Lloyd bring a fresh new sound to all the songs you know and love. Both accomplished vocalists in their own right, with Lloyd on the guitar, he and Marissa blend their vocals with an ability to create sublime musical moments or rocking dance floor anthems, delivering just the right musical impact to bring about the uniqueness that your event deserves.

Friday 1 February – Ethan Conway

Is a 20-year-old Pop/Soul musician from South East of Sydney, Playing acoustic guitar accompanied by a loop pedal, Ethan performs Original Pop/Soul music as well as covers with an interesting take on the popular contemporary music by adding his own personal spin on the songs. He is continuously evolving as a musician and as an artist.

Ethan took part in the Australian edition of “The Voice” the popular TV show. Finishing in the top 20, just missing out on competing in the top 16 live shows. Using his new-found fan base, Ethan has been playing as many gigs as he can around Sydney and is looking to expand his music up and down the coast very soon. Planning a trip to Melbourne in November.

Ethan is also currently writing and recording his Debut EP which will be released in the near future.

Are a unique and dynamic musical duo. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes and get ready to sing along to all your favourites with this talented team. Cath and Him will be performing songs from pop, rock, disco, country and including tracks from the 50s through to current top 40. With “Him” (Adam) driving the rhythm and beat with his stomp-box and Cath’s smooth vocal blend, they are able to deliver a diverse range of songs sure to entertain! Not to be missed – Cath may even bring along her fiddle!

Friday 15 February – Bernie Segedin

With a huge repertoire of over 4000 songs, coupled with a soaring voice and unique guitar style, Bernie Segedin has been leaving a lasting impression with Sydney audiences for the last twenty years. Whether as front man for Dragon or performing with note-perfect tribute shows including Eagles, Crowded House and Steely Dan, Bernie has played big concert halls, the iconic venue The Basement and everywhere in-between.

Saturday 16 February – Peter Kinch

Peter has worked as a full-time musician his whole life.

Although specialising in Jazz/Blues, Peter selects his repertoire based on the audience and has a huge variety of genres and styles to suit all occasions and age groups.

Starting out as lead guitarist in rock & show bands he has worked with many of Australia’s top bands such as Cold Chisel, The Angels, Mental As Anything & Rose Tattoo, to name but a few.

Peter toured thorough Australia then settled in Perth with one of the biggest show bands of the time. He then moved to Sydney and formed one of the most successful Duos of the 80s playing 6 nights a week through the thriving Sydney pub scene. Peter has also toured all through Europe & Canada playing on the boardwalks of Montreux during the annual jazz festivals. In recent years he has freelanced as a soloist and has worked in many duos and bands right through to 7-piece bands in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane venues such as the Hilton, Jupiters Casino, The Basement, The Orient, etc.

Back to Backs versatile sound comes from two very accomplished musicians, Antoine & Bruce. Featuring violin guitar and trombone, they play all the crowd pleasers. Antoine and Bruce can perform acoustically or with backing tacks depending on the Venue. There is not a night without a good laugh

Saturday 23 February – Eric Lewis

Eric Lewis was a member of well-known Aussie band “BellJar” and since going solo has supported well known artists like Colin Hay, Shane Howard and Ed Kuepper, he has established a niche for himself on the live music scene from Melbourne to Byron Bay. With a large catalogue of songs, from classic folk, country, pop or performing contemporary songs like Crazy, King of Wishful Thinking or Ben Harper, he delivers in an accomplished tone and a certain style, leaving his audience smiling.

He can tailor his production to suit the smallest function or hotel beer garden so you are assured of great sound and true professionalism.

Show Pony are a professional Sydney based duo that provide an eclectic mix of covers tailored to any occasion. With decades of entertainment experience between them, Lauren (vocals and piano) and Mick (guitar and vocals) are no strangers to the live band circuit, both nationally and internationally. Mick and Lauren provide entertainment to cater to any event. Their extensive repertoire consists of popular hits from the last 50 years including dance, disco, pop, current chart toppers and more.

Sunday 10 March – Paul Winn

Paul Winn can perform as a duo or solo artist playing songs in the style of artists such as Pete Murray, U2 and Jack Johnson.

He can also play a selection of jazz in the style of Michael Bublé or Frank Sinatra.

He has held many residencies as a solo or duo performer. Tuesdays at the Wentworth Sofitel for 18 months. Wednesdays at the Astral Bar, Star City for 1 year, and the Equilibrium Hotel on Wednesdays’ for 2 years. He has also played many high-profile events such as a dinner party for Fergie, The Channel 7 Christmas Party, The Black & White Ball, The Golden Slipper Ball and NYE on a private cruise ship called The World.
